Your ASPIS Journey

Five entry points into the game, ordered the way most players meet them: learn the systems, follow the locations, solve the PEP-01 layer puzzles, survive the Guardian, then chase the achievements and endings.

Explore ASPIS Guides

Walkthrough routes, PEP-01 puzzle logic, Guardian survival, both endings and every confirmed achievement in one place.

ASPIS Beginner Guide

Everything the first hour assumes you already know: control layout, the settings that actually matter, how progress is saved, and what the prologue is testing before the Institute opens up.

Open guides
1

Set movement, look sensitivity and mouse inversion first. Both axes can be inverted separately, and the field of view can go up to 120 degrees.

2

Decide on gamepad or keyboard before the first chase. Full controller support exists and the interface is usable with a pad.

3

Treat brightness and flashlight settings as difficulty. Dark rooms are where the stealth segments punish you hardest.

4

Read every document you pass. The story is delivered by records, terminals and scenes rather than by a narrator.

5

Expect the prologue to end with a system re-entry. The first achievement fires there, so do not restart if the screen cuts away.

6

Official sources never state a completion time, chapter count or difficulty setting, so plan around exploration pace rather than a number.

ASPIS Combat and Guardian Survival

A combat layer that is deliberately thin: a Makarov pistol, melee, scarce ammo, and one enemy you are not supposed to beat. The skill is knowing which encounter is which.

Open combat
1

Identify the encounter type before spending anything. Guardian segments are survival; other opponents can actually be fought.

2

Conserve pistol rounds. Ammunition is found in the environment rather than bought or crafted.

3

Use doors and corners in chases. Official text frames the Guardian as something you keep moving away from.

4

Hide only when the pursuit has actually broken. The community's most common complaint is being found inside a hiding spot.

5

Melee is a fallback, not a combo system. The game does not publish damage, health or stamina values.

What is ASPIS?

ASPIS is Dream Wire Games' first-person horror title with a heavy narrative spine, made over roughly six years of solo development. The title stands for Autonomous System for Predicting Historical Events, and the fiction does not treat that name as decoration: the machine is a Soviet research project that was supposed to model the past and instead opened a route into places its designers never planned for.

PEP-01 and Energy X

The core device: capture X-spheres, move Energy X into machinery and open astral windows between layers of reality.

The Guardian Cannot Be Killed

Chases are built around movement, doors and line of sight. Shooting the Guardian is explicitly not the answer.

OGAS Terminals

The terminal network carries records, context and some puzzle state. It was rebuilt as one unified interface before launch.

One Choice, Two Endings

A single late decision resolves the story. Achievement text confirms Let Go and World on Fire as the two branches.

The story starts in 1987 at the Institute of Cybernetics. Six volunteers are connected to the system and none of them wakes up. Andrey, an engineer who signed up hoping to see his late wife Anna and his daughter Liza again, is the one whose perspective you follow as he works through distorted facilities, documents, OGAS terminals and worlds that predate the experiment.

Where the Story Goes

ASPIS moves through recognisable Soviet spaces and then through places that should not exist. These are the location names used by official material, not invented chapter numbers.

The device is the one system the whole puzzle design hangs on. These five pieces are the vocabulary you will reuse in every later room.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does ASPIS stand for?+

The developer's own site gives the full name as Autonomous System for Predicting Historical Events. In the fiction it is a Soviet research machine built to model the past. The game is also written as АСПИС in Russian. Official material does not expand the acronym any further, so any other interpretation you see online is fan speculation rather than a documented second meaning.

Does ASPIS have manual saving?+

Official material does not describe a save menu. Players on the Steam forums report that the pause menu has no save option and that autosave timing is not explained, so treat the game as checkpoint-driven until the developer documents otherwise. If you are testing a route or an achievement, finish a story beat before closing the game rather than assuming you can reload a manual slot.

How does the PEP-01 actually work?+

The PEP-01 captures X-spheres, interacts with Energy X and opens astral windows between layers of reality. In practice you relocate energy or objects, change which layer you are standing in, and then take a path that only exists from the other side. The game is built around spatial relocation, not code guessing, so look for what you can see but cannot reach before hunting for a keypad.

Can you kill the Guardian?+

No. Official text says the Guardian cannot simply be shot, and the chase design is about keeping distance, breaking line of sight and using doors and corners. Ammunition is scarce and found in the environment, so spending it on the Guardian is a waste. Players report that hiding does not always break pursuit, so keep moving until the encounter music and behaviour actually change.

How many endings are there?+

Two. Official material describes one choice and two endings, and the achievement list names the branches as Let Go and World on Fire. There is no announced third, secret or post-credits ending. Because both achievements depend on the same final decision, you cannot earn the pair in a single run unless you replay the closing section and choose the other option.

Are the achievements missable?+

Several are tied to specific moments. I Will Stay Here is a hidden flag that asks you to remain and listen to Maria right after your first meeting, and the ending pair requires two different final choices. Story achievements such as Management Approves unlock automatically if you finish the prologue and re-enter the ASPIS system, so the main risk is walking past optional scenes rather than failing a skill check.

Where do patch notes come from?+

The Steam announcement feed and the developer's Telegram channel are the two official sources. ASPIS launched on October 23, 2026, and the first weeks are likely to bring technical fixes, so a dated updates page is more reliable than a static guide. If a claim appears only in a Steam forum thread, this wiki labels it as a player report rather than a confirmed patch note.

Ready to Step Beyond Reality?

Work through the Institute one room at a time, learn what the PEP-01 can and cannot do, and pick your ending with full context instead of guesswork.
